When Aaron Davis started his career in transportation, it didn’t start in the air, but on the ground.
Davis did asset management for rail vehicles for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). While Davis enjoyed working in transit, he got the opportunity to move into the aviation field and see transportation from a new level.
“I really, really like the fact that aviation connects the entire world,” he said. “I think it’s the one mode of transportation that differentiates itself because you can literally get anywhere in the world via airplane.”
Davis joined Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) as an asset manager planner. He was promoted within six months to senior asset manager for the planning and development bureau.
In this role, Davis has been instrumental in developing the airport’s 20-year renewal and replacement program, forecasting nearly $1 billion in capital improvement projects for the airport, which serves approximately 101 million passengers annually.
Davis manages the airport’s enterprise asset management system, performing life-cycle cost and total cost of ownership analyses. He’s spearheading the effort to obtain ISO 55001 Certification for an airport.
In 2015, Davis spearheaded ATL’s first International Sustainable Asset Management Conference (ISAM), demonstrating the synergy between sustainability and asset management. The event attracted more than 150 attendees representing a diverse mixture of industries.
In July, Davis became the first aviation board member for the Atlanta Chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO). Additionally, he received the “2014 Emerging Leader of the Year Award.”
