Toledo Express Airport Awarded $9.8 Million Grant From U.S. Department of Transportation
The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $9,841,052 to assist with two taxiway rehabilitation projects at Toledo Express Airport.
“Receiving this award will advance key capital improvements allowing Toledo Express Airport to remain safe and efficient,” said Thomas Winston, President and CEO of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. “These projects are part of our capital improvement plan and one of our six strategic areas of focus to enhance our infrastructure and ensure that our airport remains prepared to accommodate future development opportunities.”
The first project will utilize $1,076,946 of the grant proceeds to rehabilitate the portion of Taxiway N between Taxiway B and Runway 7-25. The second project will utilize $8,764,106 of the grant proceeds for the planning, design, and rehabilitation of Taxiway D Phase II Project. It is anticipated that a portion of the Taxiway D Phase II Project will be completed by the end of 2020, with the remaining project to be completed in 2021.
Over the last ten years, the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority has invested over $60 million into Toledo Express Airport, which includes the rehabilitation of Runway 7-25, Runway 16-34, Taxiways A, B, D, N, the General Aviation Apron, and the Air Cargo Apron.
