WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today named John McCaffrey as the Federal Security Director (FSD) for Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) in Rochester, N.Y. McCaffrey has been serving as Greater Rochester's Deputy FSD since August 2002.

A former United States Marshal for the Western District of New York, McCaffrey came to TSA in 2002 after eight years with the U.S. Marshals Service, serving the 17 counties in the Western District from Lake Ontario to Pennsylvania. In 1996, he and his District were the recipients of the Marshals Service's Distinguished District of the Year Award for strong management practices, financial responsibility and outstanding service. McCaffrey was also the recipient of the Director's Martin J. Burke Award presented to the U.S. Marshal who excels in leadership and Marshals Service initiatives. He is a 24-year veteran of the New York State Police and, during his tenure, received several Superintendent Commendations for his investigative abilities. He retired from the State Police as a Senior Investigator and joined the U.S. Marshals Service in 1994.
McCaffrey earned his Associates Degree from Erie Community College in 1970. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1971 to 1983 where he achieved the rank of Captain.
The Federal Security Director at Greater Rochester International Airport is also responsible for overseeing aviation security and passenger and baggage screening operations at Elmira-Corning Regional Airport in Horseheads, N.Y.
