Universal Avionics Introduces UniLink® SCN 31.0 for Link 2000+ to NBAA2015 Attendees
TUCSON, AZ – Universal Avionics introduces Software Control Number (SCN) 31.0, for the UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit (CMU), to attendees of the NBAA2015 – Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition.
SCN 31.0 is designed to provide UniLink UL-800/801 operators with the necessary Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) message sets to meet European Link 2000+ Programme mandate requirements. UL-800/801 operators can acquire this additional capability with a software upgrade (no hardware changes required). The software will be on demonstration in Universal Avionics Booth N5733 (North Hall) throughout NBAA2015 exhibit hours.
“Universal Avionics is proud to be a leader in providing operators with high value solutions for near-term mandates at a truly competitive price,” said Dan Reida, Universal Avionics Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Our Link 2000+/FANS solution is an example of such an offering,” he added. “It not only addresses these requirements, but it also provides added operational benefits while positioning you to address additional future requirements.”
Per the Data Link Services Implementing Rule (DLS-IR) and associated guidance, SCN 31.0 supports the Aeronautical Telecommunications Network (ATN) Baseline 1 (B1) CPDLC and Context Management (CM) functions which are the core of Link 2000+ compliance. SCN 31.0 also features FANS/ATN CPDLC message harmonization. This addresses industry requirements for operational consistency and human factors for all FANS CPDLC and ATN CPDLC messages for operators flying in both continental Europe and oceanic airspace. It is also provisioned for other FANS applications such as FAA Data Comm.
The UniLink UL-800/801 CMU can be installed on a wide range of platforms – even those with a third party Flight Management System (FMS). For increased installation flexibility, the UniLink UL-801 model features an internal VHF Data Radio (VDR) that saves weight and space (no need to install a dedicated system).
Through the end of 2015, operators of legacy Universal Avionics and non-Universal Avionics equipment may trade-in their existing data link system for the popular UniLink UL-800/801 CMU. For additional information, visit: www.uasc.com/home/shop/unilinkincentive.
