Million Air Dallas announced that Jack Hopkins, president of Million Air Dallas, has decided to leave the company and to enjoy retirement. Following this decision, Richard Rogers, owner of Million Air Dallas, appointed Bob Schmidt, vice-president and director of operations, as the new president of Million Air Dallas effective immediately.
Hopkins joined Million Air Dallas in 1984 and held various positions of management before becoming the company’s president in 2002. During his 32 year tenure he helped build Million Air Dallas into a luxury flight service operation with award winning excellence in all departments. Hopkins was a true leader devoted to the mission of Million Air Dallas.
“I am grateful to have spent 32 years with this great company, and deeply honored to have had the opportunity to lead the highest level of private air transportation in North America,” states Hopkins.
Schmidt joined Million Air Dallas in October of 2005 bringing over 30 years of aviation experience to the company. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with type ratings in a DHC-8, LR-60, G-V and BD-700 and has over 14,000 hours of flight experience in domestic and international operations. As vice-president and director of operations, Schmidt provided invaluable leadership and was consistent in the day to day operations of providing safety and service which is what Million Air Dallas stands for.
Schmidt’s flying career spans decades beginning when he was 18 years old flying a Twin Otter with ERA Aviation throughout the state of Alaska. Schmidt later moved onto flying at Allegheny Airlines where, in addition to flying, he was part of the training and standards department and also served in several progressive management positions. In 2000 he joined Bombardier Flexjet as manager of flight standards and chief pilot of Jet Solutions LLC. Schmidt is a 1987 graduate of the University of Alaska.
With all his experience and the dedication to operations, Schmidt says he is humbled and excited by this opportunity to lead Million Air Dallas and will stand firm by the values laid down and the credo upon which Million Air Dallas was built.
