Richland Aviation to Host Wings of Freedom Air Show in Montana’s Sunrise City
Phillips 66 Aviation branded Richland Aviation will host the Wings of Freedom Air Show Sept. 24-25 at Sidney-Richland Municipal Airport (KSDY). The event holds tremendous significance as there will be a memorial tribute to Phil Petrik, founder of Richland Aviation.
“My Dad was incredibly passionate about the aviation industry from the time he was 12 and began coming to the Sidney airport in 1963,” said Mike Petrik, owner of Richland Aviation. “He enjoyed sharing and cultivating this passion with others, always trying to capture the imagination of the next generation of aviation enthusiasts. My Father was a dedicated pilot, logging more than 30,000 hours of flight time over the course of his career. In addition to serving on multiple air show committees, he also contributed to the show’s entertainment, flying as a talented aerial performer. His personal T-28 Trojan, which he proudly restored, and his P-51 Mustang will be on display at this year’s Wings of Freedom Air Show for everyone to enjoy.”
Headlining this year’s air show are the acclaimed Canadian Forces Snowbirds, a precision formation flying team. Richland Aviation will handle refueling the Snowbirds’ and other performers’ aircraft with Phillips 66 Aviation avgas and jet fuel. The FBO will also utilize its spacious hangars for aircraft storage and perform aircraft maintenance as needed.
The Air Show begins 1 p.m. both days (Sept. 24-25). Tickets are $15 for ages 15 and up, $10 for ages 6 – 14, and kids 5 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased in Sidney at the Chamber of Commerce located at 909 S Central Ave., Richland Aviation located at 544 Airport Road, and Yellowstone Bank located at 120 2nd St. NW.
