HMSHost will continue to operate and expand food & beverage operations at Orlando International Airport as the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority has approved concessions contract terms that will extend its contract to 2024. The authority has awarded a five-year extension worth more than $70 million in annual sales for HMSHost and its ACDBE partner Lee Wesley Group Inc.
“HMSHost is absolutely delighted about the opportunity to continue growing our partnership with Orlando International Airport and we truly look forward to moving ahead with these developments together,” said HMSHost President & CEO Steve Johnson. “We could not be more excited about delivering industry-leading dining options and continuing to provide our award-winning service to Orlando travelers.”
HMSHost will spend approximately $11 million to upgrade its existing restaurants as well as introduce new dining options. On Airside 4, HMSHost will open Bahama Breeze, a restaurant by Orlando-based Darden that offers Caribbean-inspired food and tropical drinks in a vibrant island atmosphere; MKT, HMSHost’s exclusive market-style dining concept offering healthy, garden-fresh options; and an exciting food truck featuring a rotating menu of new creations such as Asian fusion, street tacos, and fish & chips. HMSHost will update two locations to become American Craft Tavern and Firehouse Subs in the pre-security area, as well as open two new Starbucks stores.
“Today’s decision by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Board to extend the contract with HMSHost is based on a proven track record as a strong business partner and advocate for exceptional customer service,” says Phil Brown, executive director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “With this extension we can move forward with plans to offer our passengers a variety of unique dining options while we grow for the future.”
“We have had a strong partnership with HMSHost as an ACDBE partner for more than 15 years, working together to deliver quality dining services to airport travelers,” said Lee Wesley Group COO Camille Lee-Johnson. “We are very excited to continue this relationship with HMSHost at Orlando International Airport with this extension.”
