MEXICO CITY, April 17, 2017 Interjet announced today it has taken possession of the first of three Airbus A320neos, the latest version of the A320 line of passenger aircraft. These three aircraft, along with 48 additional Airbus aircraft in Interjet’s fleet, will service both international and intra-Mexico destinations.
“We are very pleased to be the first airline in Mexico to take possession of the Airbus 320neo with CFM Leap-1A engines,” said José Luis Garza, CEO of Interjet. “This combination of the latest aircraft technology and engines, make the A320neo the most efficient and quietest aircraft for our short and medium-haul flights”, he added.
NEO is short for New Engine Option and with the two CFM Leap 1A engines and 2.4 meter-long ‘Sharklets’ rising from the wingtips, overall fuel consumption for the A320neo is approximately 15% less than its predecessor resulting in lower CO2 emissions giving the aircraft a much-improved carbon footprint. The new engine technology also makes the aircraft significantly quieter. All Interjet A320neo aircraft will be configured for 150 passengers with the most legroom in its class Each seat will also include Panasonic’s innovative eXo IFE system with 12-inch HD screens.
Rafael Alonso, President, Airbus Latin America & Caribbean added, “We are delighted to deliver Interjet its first A320neo aircraft. As their business grows and fleet expands, we look forward to continuing to provide them with the most efficient and environmentally-friendly aircraft customized to cater to their passenger’s in-flight needs.
