CVG Launches Google Street View Tour for Passenger Convenience
The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is one of the first airports in the U.S. to create a Google Street View Virtual Tour of the entire airport. The 360° tour is on CVG’s website and offers travelers the opportunity to experience the airport online from their home, or on-the-go via their Smartphone before arriving at the airport.
Since the tour has been live, it’s already gained more than one million views. The tour was filmed by Google photographer Joe Danzer, and showcases different areas of the airport from ticketing to screening to concessions and children’s play areas. In addition to passengers finding their gate, they can check out Neil Armstrong’s space suit and a full set of Mastodon bones from the Cincinnati Museum Center as part of Curate My Community initiative.
“Our vision is to make travel through CVG unforgettably positive for all of our travelers,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer. “Wayfinding is a key piece to achieving that vision, and these 360° tours offer passengers the ability to become familiar with their surroundings before walking through our front door.”
Fun stats on creating the tour:
- 1812 single images
- 18GB of data produced
- Imagery was acquired overnight from 10pm to 6am
- Over 120hrs of post processing work to create the tour
