Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Highlights Record-Breaking October and Four New Nonstop Destinations
Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (Gateway Airport) welcomed a record number of passengers through its doors in October. A total of 107,636 air travelers used Gateway Airport during the month, more activity than any other October in the Airport’s history and a 7 percent increase over last October. In addition, Allegiant Air will begin service to four new popular destinations in November, including the airline’s first nonstop service between Arizona and Florida.
Gilbert Mayor and Chair of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority (PMGAA) Jenn Daniels said, “We are thrilled that Allegiant is having success serving the greater Phoenix area and applaud their continued investment in Gateway Airport. Our partnership creates a significant economic impact on the entire region.”
“As the greater Phoenix market continues to expand to the south and east and an increasing number of sun-seeking visitors discover the value and convenience of Gateway Airport, Gateway Airport’s role in the region is changing,” added PMGAA Executive Director/CEO J. Brian O’Neill, A.A.E.
Allegiant Air recently celebrated their 10-year anniversary at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and has carried more than 10 million passengers in and out of the Valley during that time. As Gateway’s largest airline, Allegiant now flies to 45 destinations including eight new cities added in October and November – Tampa/St. Petersburg, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Louisville, Omaha, Boise, and St. Louis/Belleville.
In addition to Allegiant, popular low-cost Canadian airline WestJet Airlines returned to Gateway Airport in October for the winter season and provides nonstop service to Calgary and Edmonton, Canada.
