JFK Airport's Terminal 4 Debuts Award-Winning Website
Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport recently expanded its digital presence with the launch of an award-winning website.
The new site - complete with information for passengers, meeters and greeters, staff and the community - represents a new level of engagement for an air terminal. Innovative new features including an interactive terminal map and up-to-the-minute security and taxi wait times provide passengers with crucial information. While pages dedicated to New York City landmarks and events provide fun tourism highlights. An extensive FAQ section anticipates the wants and needs of passengers and terminal visitors to T4 making the new site a comprehensive tool for travelers.
In 2016, Terminal 4 became the first terminal in the New York area to brand itself – creating both a visual identity for the building and an inviting atmosphere for its more than 21 million annual passengers. This brand served as the foundation for the new website design, including a modern and open typeface, guiding travelers to key information and assistance.
“Our digital strategy was developed with the goal of providing a stress free travel experience for our passengers,” said Gert-Jan de Graaff, President and CEO of JFKIAT, the company which operates Terminal 4. “We noticed a need for personal connectivity, and the T4 website - takes digital design and passenger experience to the next level by delivering essential travel information in real time, directly to the user’s fingertips.”
Terminal 4’s website - created by Ronik Design – won a Webby Award in Communications Arts Magazine’s Interactive Annual Competition, which recognizes outstanding interactive website designs that utilize web browser-based technologies. In recognition of the win, Terminal 4’s website will be featured in the winner’s gallery on the Communication Arts website, as well in the printed issue of the magazine in March. Terminal 4’s website was also recognized by The Moodie Davitt Report awards as highly commended in the category of best airport website.
The Terminal is also now active on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, allowing for seamless integration and communication with stakeholders.
