Maral Matossian, Vice President at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports, brings a transformative approach to airport concessions and guest experiences. With nearly 20 years in retail and hospitality management, she joined URW’s LAX team in 2022 to apply her expertise in enhancing passenger experience and boosting revenue.
Overseeing six terminals and more than 180,000 square feet of leasable space, Matossian has made a significant impact, notably through the $40 million transformation of Terminal 3. This project introduced a blend of local and national brands, including five airport-firsts, creating a unique environment for travelers.
“Getting the opportunity to create engaging places that improve the traveling experiences, meet the evolving demands of today’s consumers and deliver one-of-a-kind concessions programs is the one of the most motivating aspects of my career,” Matossian said. “But the people behind these programs inspire me every day. Making sure our program reflects the rich diversity and culture of LAX is a major focus of my role, and I’m proud to support our ACDBE and local, small, and minority business partners.”
Matossian’s work reflects her commitment to inclusivity and community. She prioritizes URW’s ACDBE and local business partnerships, integrating diverse and minority-owned businesses into LAX’s concessions program. By fostering strong connections with city departments, local organizations, and non-profits, she ensures the program resonates with the diverse culture of Los Angeles.
Dedicated to continuous improvement, Matossian advocates for flexible, right-sized opportunities that lower entry barriers for small and minority-owned businesses. Her work not only enhances the LAX passenger experience but also supports the broader community. With a focus on creating memorable, community-driven spaces, Matossian is a visionary leader, elevating both LAX’s offerings and the airport’s role within the city ahead of the 2028 Olympics.
