Eric Rivera, P.E., serves as the Commercial Service Lead at Lochner, where he oversees complex, large-scale airport improvement projects across the western United States. Beginning his career with hands-on experience as a heavy equipment operator in his family’s construction company, Rivera’s passion for airport engineering took root early, propelling him toward a distinguished career in civil and airport construction. His early career saw him manage commercial and civil projects, including constructing a new airport in Vaughn, New Mexico. In 2013, Rivera joined Lochner as an Airport Engineer, and his expertise has since guided major projects that have bolstered safety, economic growth, and tourism in numerous communities.
"I'm most proud of the steady growth I've achieved in my career, building on each accomplishment and milestone," he said. "Rather than one standout achievement, it's the continuous journey of learning and development that has been most meaningful to me. Each experience, both positive and challenging, has contributed to my improvement as a professional, and I'm grateful for the opportunities to learn and grow along the way."
Rivera’s portfolio includes high-profile achievements, such as the award-winning runway and apron reconstructions at Canyonlands Regional Airport and Logan-Cache Airport. He has led over 24 significant projects valued at more than $50 million, with his work at Four Corners Regional Airport earning the New Mexico Airport Management’s Most Improved Airport Award. His responsibilities extend from planning and FAA grant administration to overseeing engineering teams, cost estimation, and project closeouts, demonstrating his comprehensive approach to project management.
Committed to the future of aviation, Rivera actively mentors young engineers within Lochner, fostering growth and sharing his deep industry knowledge. His strong relationships with FAA staff, airport clients, and city officials exemplify his collaborative approach, as noted by Mike Lewis, Airport Director at Four Corners Regional Airport. A respected leader with a lifelong dedication to the field, Rivera continues to drive industry improvement and innovation, making him a valued asset to the aviation community and a standout in his profession.
