LaMonte Forgays, Operations Manager – Aviation at Q&D Construction, has demonstrated unwavering dedication to the aviation industry, progressing from an apprentice carpenter in 2008 to a leader in aviation construction.
Forgays has overseen high-profile projects nationwide, including the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport’s terminal expansion, where his leadership ensured a seamless $32 million project. Forgays’ resume includes managing the $11 million Cheyenne Regional Airport Terminal project, the $130 million Fresno Airport expansion, and the $120 million Glacier Park International Airport modernization, where his expertise in Value Engineering and Constructability consistently delivered quality results under budget and ahead of schedule.
“Starting as a carpenter's apprentice with absolutely no prior construction experience, I faced a steep learning curve. However, through hands-on training and guidance from experienced colleagues, I was able to immerse myself in every aspect of aviation construction, from understanding the fundamentals of materials and structural work to the intricacies of project management and leadership,” he said. “This journey has been both challenging and rewarding.”
Forgays’ leadership extends beyond project management. As a pre-construction lead for significant undertakings at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, his strategic approach has enhanced Q&D Construction’s project protocols and established training initiatives, including the Project Manager Development Program. His hands-on experience and dedication to continuous learning are evident through certifications such as OSHA 30, LEED Green Associate, and a National Building Code Certificate.
Committed to industry growth, Forgays serves on multiple committees within the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and the Airport Consultants Council (ACC). He shares his expertise at aviation seminars, particularly with the Young Professionals committee, where he mentors emerging talent in aviation construction.
