Jimit Joshi works for Abu Dhabi Aviation, one of the largest commercial helicopter operators in the Middle East. The helicopters that Joshi works on support offshore oil production, and from the R44 piston engine helicopter to the AW139 medium-sized twin turbine engine helicopter, Joshi is focused on his work as an aircraft maintenance engineer.
He prides himself in staying positive and disciplined. He wakes up early in the morning to exercise and applies time management skills to finish the tasks he needs to get done. One of those tasks is increasing his aviation maintenance knowledge.
What he likes most about working in aviation is the science that causes an airplane or helicopter to fly, learning how various aircraft systems work and keeping updated on the latest developments.
Joshi has aviation maintenance and safety licenses and certificates from the General Civil Aviation Authority (UAE), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority, Federal Aviation Authority, and Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Examination Certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in India.
An aircraft maintenance engineer for over a decade, Joshi continues to further his helicopter and commercial aviation knowledge by learning about avionics, so far completing EASA modules B2 and B1.1 (airplanes with turbine engines), which includes propellers.
He believes in teamwork, asking his subordinates their opinion while also sharing what he’s learned and his ideas to help others.
He encourages young minds to grow and to learn the right way by following all the standard operating procedures and prioritizing safety. He helps others become better aircraft maintenance engineers, and he adds, “Every day I get up and go with a positivity to learn something new.” His encouraging words for young aspirants are “Never give up. Today is hard. Tomorrow will be worse but day after tomorrow will be sunshine.”
