2024 AMT Top 40 Under 40: Jeffrey Cash Tucker

Aug. 20, 2024

Jeffrey Cash Tucker grew up working on ATVs with his friends, and one of them, Tyler Davis, persuaded Tucker to go to school and learn about aicraft maintenance with him.

Tucker started his aviation career in 2019 at Poplar Airmotive. He worked in general aviation doing engine tear downs, cleaning and overhauls.

Before joining Delta Air Lines in April 2023, he worked as an AMT for Air Transport International on the Boeing 767 fleet. In September 2023, in addition to his regular AMT duties at Delta, he was selected to work part-time as a high-risk analyst. In this role, he helped procure parts, provide assessments and troubleshoot information, and assist leads with preventing aircraft out of service (AOS) aircraft.

January 2024, he was selected to work with Delta's Line Maintenance Work Control group, helping to coordinate work/jobs/tasks across Delta's diverse fleet. In this position, he is a liaison between Engineering, Logistics, Maintenance, Planning and Routing.

“I have learned so many different things each and every day in this role, from different ‘quirks’ from fleet to fleet, to interpersonal skills and communication,” he said.

What he enjoys most about his job is the people.

“I have never had a truly bad day at Delta,” he said, adding the teamwork and comradery have always been strong. “I know that if I need help, I can count on my fellow mechanics and leads for a hand.”

The biggest challenge he says has been learning Delta’s diverse fleet of aircraft and the differences in how they operate. “This also makes each day different and therefore more enjoyable,” he added.

Ultimately, Tucker said his goal is “to keep learning every day and constantly improve, no matter the role I serve in.”
