Worldwide deliveries of general aviation aircraft totaled 436 during the third quarter, up from 425 a year ago. But shipments for the first nine months of the year are down nearly 10 percent as the fragility in the North American and Europe continues.
Billings in the quarter rose to $4.8 billion, up from $4.1 billion the same time a year ago. For the first nine months, billings totaled $12.1 billion, down 10 percent from last year.
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association, a Washington trade group, released the figures this morning.
"This is not the time for new, undue government burdens to be imposed on general aviation," Pete Bunce, GAMA president and CEO, said in a statement. "Misguided tax policies that single out our industry, unquestionably endanger jobs. Policymakers should be focused on initiatives that encourage investment in our industry and grow jobs."
Bombardier Learjet delivered seven Learjet business jets during the third quarter, up from four a year ago. Cessna Aircraft shipped 165 planes, up from 103 a year ago. And Hawker Beechcraft delivered 33 planes, down from 43 a year ago.
