Less than a year after opening a new customer service center at Fort Worth’s Alliance Airport, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. is planning another new facility.

The aircraft manufacturer last October opened its $55 million Gulfstream Customer Support center at Perot Field at Alliance Airport. The 162,000-square-foot Alliance operation includes hangars, back shops, support areas and offices. About 200 employees will work at the Alliance Airport site.

Now Gulfstream is planning a 108,548 square-foot repair and overhaul facility at 2500 Golden Triangle Blvd south of the airport. The new operation will include offices, shipping and receiving and light industrial space, according to planning documents filed with the state.

The $10 million repair and overhaul center is scheduled to open next year, according to details provided to the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation. Dallas’ McCaslin Associates is designing the project.

Gulfstream has said the new Fort Worth location will handle component repair and maintenance.

“The Dallas-Fort Worth area is a prime location for our new component overhaul and repair facility,” Derek Zimmerman, president of Gulfstream Customer Support, said in a statement last year. “Its close proximity to (DFW) International Airport adds a convenient location adjacent to one of the United States’ largest air cargo operations, allowing us to move these components and parts quickly and efficiently to customers around the country.

“This facility also complements our service center at Fort Worth Alliance Airport and Gulfstream’s completions and customer support service operations at Dallas Love Field Airport to create even more accessibility and options for our customers.”

Gulfstream has other repair and overhaul operations in Savannah, Ga; Appleton, Wis; St. Louis; Farnborough, England, and Lincoln, Calif.

The new North Fort Worth operation will be in the North Quarter 35 business park, which was recently purchased by California-based Westcore Properties.
