Nick Popovich joins the short list of inductees to be named to the “In Business” 2020 Business and Industry Hall of Fame. He is being recognized for the global aviation business that he founded in 1979, and now operates from several facilities around northwest Indiana. His company, Sage-Popovich, Inc., is an aviation consulting and asset management firm headquartered in Valparaiso with a flight operations center at the Gary/Chicago International Airport. The company has repossessed more than 1900 aircraft and helicopters from locations around the globe, been involved in resolving countless bankruptcy disputes and liquidations for clients, performed thousands of aircraft, engine, & inventory appraisals and valuations, and was appointed binding arbitrator to resolve a dispute in the U.S. Federal Court.
Popovich also operates Sage-Popovich Flight Operations, which manages aircraft flights for company-owned and joint-venture owned aircraft, and A.V. Liquidators, which manages the sale and liquidation of all parts and aviation-related assets for secured lenders and distressed companies world-wide. The family of companies also includes 600 Charter Brokerage which arranges charter flights around the world.
Popovich has been the recipient of numerous accolades and awards, including being inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation, but growing up in northwest Indiana, he treasures this award the most because it comes from his hometown region. He keeps his business nimble and his business relationships close. Popovich attributes his company’s success to the dedication that he and his staff demonstrate to SPI’s clients, and the ability to create customized solutions that meet their needs. This has led Sage-Popovich, Inc. to be the premier aviation consulting company for lenders, aircraft manufacturers, airlines, attorneys, parts manufacturers, government entities and individual aircraft owners worldwide.
