Spanning Three-Generations, Sheltair's Family Values and Business Stands Strong

Oct. 21, 2020

The beginning of the decade marked an exciting new era for Sheltair. Jerry Holland, founder, chairman and CEO, began a well-thought leadership transition plan to continue the company's growth by appointing his daughter, Lisa Holland, as president of Sheltair Aviation. Kai Seymour, grandson of Jerry and son of Lisa, joined the family business a few months later, after obtaining his BA in Business Management from John Sykes College of Business at the University of Tampa, tasked with learning all aspects of the company. Now Sheltair touts three generations of dedication, leadership, and an unwavering passion for serving the aviation industry.

Family values have been the foundation of how Sheltair runs its business for nearly 58 years, making staff and customers alike the core of its "aviation family." This sentiment resonates with each of the 500+ employees throughout its 18 FBOs and 24 aviation-related properties. One that drives Sheltair's mission "to provide the world's finest products and services to its aviation family by inspiring meaningful innovation, continuous improvement, and a relentless commitment to uncompromising safety and service standards."

"We're all very familiar with the company's roots," said Todd Anderson, COO of Sheltair. "When Jerry founded his construction company in 1963, he infused his personalized humble touch into the business and quickly gained a reputation for doing things the right way — with honesty and integrity. These are values that we maintain to this day. The result is a strong and loyal customer base that has stayed with Sheltair throughout the decades and now grows with each new generation."

"It is a privilege to lead alongside my father," said Lisa Holland. "And to now have Kai join the business he built from the ground up fills me with pride. It is a testament to our focus on delivering a customer experience based on family values that is now three generations strong."

Sheltair's family-oriented business philosophies don't only focus on the customer. The company also prides itself on its culture of supporting its people's development and success, often reflected in the long tenure of employees who have been with the company for decades. With this internal focus on its aviation family, Sheltair's management team continuously works collaboratively to capitalize on the best and brightest thinking from inside its ranks. By supporting and challenging this family of 500, Sheltair's vision to "soar above and beyond creating a new standard for aviation products and services" is made possible.

"My desire is for Sheltair to remain a vibrant and successful family business," said Jerry Holland. "I look forward to watching Lisa lead and grow the company while maintaining our industry-leading reputation for focusing on our customers and employees, and Kai's continued development into a great leader within Sheltair."
