Water Valley Land Company and the Business Aviation Group, LLC. have broken ground on the first phase of their Discovery Air development project. Set to be completed and delivered for use in the fourth quarter of 2021, this first phase will offer the Northern Colorado Business and General Aviation community a new 38,000 square-foot facility.
Located on the south end of the airport, the Discovery Air Campus will significantly enhance the type and size of facilities offered at Northern Colorado Regional Airport. Upon completion, it will feature four hangars with supporting office space – each of which will be named after a prominent mountain along the front range.
The first hangar, Torrey’s Peak, will be the largest facility of its kind on the airfield and will feature a 28 foot door as well as 29,494 square feet of hangar space and 8,213 square feet of modern, fully customizable office space. Designed to meet user preferences, this energy-efficient facility will include an infrared heating system, LED lighting and beautifully finished epoxy flooring.
Phase 2 of Discovery Air will yield an additional 148,000 square feet of office and hangar space, in addition to a new 24,000 square-foot FBO Terminal. Once finished, the full campus will span 29.5 acres.
“We are thrilled to have broken ground on this project with Water Valley and our General Contractor PCL Construction,” said Barry Sherman, partner, Business Aviation Group. “Demand for high-quality, contemporary aviation facilities is strong in the region. We have two significant customers under contract to date. Discussions are underway with several others, and we expect interest to soar as the progress continues.”
Leveraging its extensive professional network and expertise in the aviation real estate space, BA Group has played an instrumental role in this project from the very beginning, working closely with airport officials and prominent real estate developer, Martin Lind of the Water Valley Land Company, to ensure the development project was a real game-changer for the airport.
“We are proud to be the Master Developer of this large-scale, state-of-the-art aviation Campus at Northern Colorado Airport. We have long felt and been adamant that this airport is the most important public asset in Northern Colorado and we couldn’t be more excited to see this asset come to life with this incredible project of Discovery Air,” added Martin Lind, chief executive officer/president, The Water Valley Companies.
“Northern Colorado Regional Airport is working to support aviation demands through the creation of partnerships and innovation – with our Remote Tower program as an example,” said Jason R. Licon, airport director. “We are very excited to see the Discovery Air project reach this milestone and are looking forward to the conclusion of its first phase at the end of next year.”
