REDMOND, WASH. (March 7, 2012) Designed to specifically meet the demanding needs of the aviation industry, Genie is introducing its new Genie® GS™-2646 AV scissor lift at the Cygnus Aviation Expo in Las Vegas, NV, last week.
Designed with reach, access and safety for increased productivity in the aviation industry, the new Genie® GS™-2646 AV scissor lift offers a smooth, powered extension deck option which provides an extra five feet of reach. The Padded Aircraft Protection Rail (PAR) system cushions the platform railings, providing an extra level of protection. Gates at both ends of the platform provide easy access for the operators. The platform extension deck and gates are interlocked, preventing the machine from being operated while the deck is extended or while the gates are open.
The Genie® GS™-2646 AV scissor lift offers a working height of 32 ft (9.92 m) and a drive height of 26 ft (7.92 m). The width of the scissor with the PAR is 4 ft 8 in (1.42 m). The scissor lift has an unmatched inside turning radius of zero and a lift capacity of 900 lbs (340 kg).
“Through our extensive research, we were able to design our new machine to hone in on the needs of this unique industry,” said Jeff Weido, scissors senior product manager, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP). “This scissor lift is not just for aircraft maintenance; it is also for aircraft manufacturing. It is truly a start-to-finish product for the aviation industry.”
A thick, platform deck provides an excellent slip resistant surface for operator comfort. A “flight line” option also provides a higher maximum wind speed rating of up to 35 mph.
The new Genie® SmartLink™ control system provides onboard diagnostics allowing software updates to be easily implemented remotely or while connected to a laptop.
The new Genie® GS-2646 AV will be available in all ANSI markets with production beginning in mid-second quarter.
Other Genie products for the aviation industry include an Aircraft Protection System which works on all telescopic and articulating booms from 30 ft to 135 ft, as well as the industry’s first portable LED light towers.
