Boeing Shanghai Adds 777 to Maintenance Portfolio
SHANGHAI, Aug. 30, 2012 – Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd., (Boeing Shanghai) has received approval to add Boeing 777-200 and -300 models to its maintenance portfolio, following new authorization from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The expanded scope of airplane maintenance operations was authorized by EASA after an intensive inspection that resulted in high positive inspector feedback. Boeing Shanghai’s newly approved capabilities include line maintenance and base maintenance checks on Boeing 777-200/300, as well as associated components repair and overhaul.
“This EASA authorization is a key step as Boeing Shanghai pursues new business by focusing on additional airplane models,” said Dermot Swan, CEO of Boeing Shanghai. “Boeing Shanghai is committed to broadening its capabilities in order to serve more customers around the world.”
Boeing Shanghai initially received its EASA license allowing maintenance operations on the Boeing Next-Generation 737 family and 767-200/300 in June 2010.
Boeing Shanghai was established in June 2006 as a joint venture between Boeing, Shanghai Airport Authorities and China Eastern Airlines. Boeing Shanghai offers a broad range of services from engineering, aircraft maintenance and modification to material management, and component repair and overhaul. Boeing Shanghai supports customers located throughout the world and plans to open a second hangar in 2014.
