MTU Maintenance Signs Exclusive Contract for GE90-115B Maintenance with BIMAN Bangladesh Airlines Ltd.
Hannover, Germany, 14th January, 2014 – BIMAN Bangladesh Airlines Ltd. has awarded MTU Maintenance an exclusive long-term maintenance and lease engine provisioning contract that covers all present and future General Electric GE90-115B engines for BIMAN's 777-300ER fleet. The contract with Bangladesh's national flag carrier currently has a duration of five years.
Given the phase out of BIMAN's last McDonnell Douglas DC-10 aircraft in the coming months as part of the airline's fleet renewal plan, MTU Maintenance is pleased to continue its strong partnership with BIMAN with the maintenance of its GE90-115B fleet.
Within the framework of the proposed modernization, BIMAN already brought two Boeing 777-300ER into service and has additional aircraft to be joining the fleet by March 2014. The expansion of the fleet is accompanied by an extension of the airline’s route system. The current network which includes destinations in the Middle East and Far East as well as in Europe will be enhanced with destinations in the U.S. in 2014.
As the world's leading independent maintenance provider, MTU Maintenance can draw upon over three decades of experience in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of high-thrust engines. The company has been the exclusive provider for the maintenance of BIMAN's CF6-50 engines for the past eight years as well as for the maintenance of the airline's CFM56-7 engines since 2011.
MTU Maintenance Hannover is one of the few maintenance providers worldwide with full repair capability for the GE90 including testing and certifying of the engine. Besides being licensed to repair and undertake major overhaul of the world's largest engine, MTU Maintenance also offers its customers a number of additional services.
