Aviation Technical Services (ATS) in Kansas City Set to Work on Global Transport Aircraft

Everett, WA (June 27, 2014) Aviation Technical Services’ new aircraft maintenance facility at the Kansas City Missouri International Airport (MCI) received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) this week that enables it to perform maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services on virtually any transport category aircraft in the world.

This certification is the latest milestone for the new ATS location, which specializes in heavy maintenance and modification of large aircraft. Previously, the Kansas City facility operated under an FAA authorization granted through ATS’ FAA-certified repair station in Everett, Washington. With this new certification, ATS-Kansas City has received its own FAA Class IV Airframe rating and is supplemented by an additional limited airframe rating specifically for Boeing-787 aircraft.

ATS was awarded the FAA certification ahead of schedule—in less than 4 months—following a process that included a formal FAA application, thorough documentation assessments and a series of demonstration audits.

“The quick certification approval for our newest location speaks for this company’s well-established ability to provide services and quality processes that meet or exceed FAA Part 145 regulations,” explained President and CEO Matt Yerbic.

The Kansas City facility, which expands ATS capacity and capability for servicing both Boeing and Airbus wide and narrow-body aircraft, becomes the third in the company’s MRO network, joining facilities in Everett and Moses Lake, Washington. A private ribbon-cutting will be held in July to mark the location’s official grand opening.
