Program Manager John Wing Named 2016 AMT Next Gen Award Winner

Dec. 13, 2016
Pemco World Air Services (PEMCO) is proud to announce Program Manager John Wing has been selected from hundreds of nominations across the global aviation industry and named to Aircraft Maintenance Technology magazine's 40 Under 40 Next Gen Awards. AMT Next Gen Award winners represent the best in the aviation maintenance community and celebrates the next generation of maintenance professionals keeping the world safely in flight.

Wing joined PEMCO in 2008 as a lead A&P mechanic and then moved on to supervisor, and weekend-and-night shift production manager. As a program manager, Wing oversees all aircraft in the program, a major U.S. airline. He establishes the manpower, makes sure the appropriate people are where they need to be, plans for upcoming jobs and upcoming aircraft, makes sure everything stays on budget, and all work is in compliance with company policy, customer policy, and the FAA requirements.

Wing shared with AMT: "I was born into the aviation industry as the son of an air traffic controller, that held a commercial pilot's license. My father worked for 28 years as an ATC, working at both Fort Lauderdale and Tampa airports. After high school, I decided to go to A&P school, because I knew I wanted to work with planes. I thought of becoming an air traffic controller or pilot like my father, but just felt the drive to work in the maintenance industry."

The magazine featured the winners on the cover of the November/December 2016 issue and published an article about Wing.

"John has an outstanding ability to direct complex projects from concept to fully operational status," said Wing's supervisor Senior MRO Manager Dan Teters. "He is highly motivated, goal oriented, and a detailed problem-solving leader."
