Aviation Technical Services and Qantas Partner to Reduce Maintenance Cost
Everett, Washington (October 9, 2014) ― Aviation Technical Services (ATS) and Qantas recently entered into an Engineering Services Agreement, which focuses on improving efficiency and reducing the maintenance cost of Qantas’ fleet of more than 75 Boeing 737 aircraft. The program will enhance elements of Qantas’ aircraft maintenance program through multiple phases of improvement that target everything from availability of material to utilization of personnel. For this project’s work scope, ATS will draw upon its extensive Boeing 737 maintenance, overhaul and engineering experience.
“It is our intent to synchronize this knowledge with some of our legacy concepts towards program optimization,” said Chris Nassenstein, Qantas Executive Manager of Engineering. “Aircraft maintenance programs constantly evolve and there is a point in time where years of addressing potential concerns inherently get embedded into each and every check. We want to step back and reassess what and how we should be managing our maintenance program.” He also added, “Reliability statistics measured against other operator benchmarks should be reviewed and challenged—we want a solution that focuses on safety and managed reliability, balanced against cost effectiveness.”
"We are very pleased to expand our relationship with Qantas to the engineering platform, recognizing that a total value solution is paramount to managing and reducing operator costs," stated Matt Yerbic, ATS President and CEO.
