ALOFT AeroArchitects Further Expands Its FAA ODA Capabilities

Oct. 27, 2016
Most STCs processed through the ALOFT ODA are now completely independent from standard external review periods typically reserved by the FAA on specific projects that require FAA review and/or concurrence.

(Georgetown, Delaware – October 27, 2016) – Representatives of ALOFT AeroArchitects (NBAA Booth #2031) announced that the company has received the latest updated approvals to its authority and procedures as an Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) from the FAA.

“This means that customers who hire ALOFT AeroArchitects as their ODA will enjoy the benefit of working directly with our team to establish the industry’s most predictable timeline for their STC deliveries,” stated John Martin, President and CEO, ALOFT AeroArchitects. “Combined with the approval we received in 2015 to issue our own ICAs (Instructions for Continued Airworthiness), most STCs processed through the ALOFT ODA are now completely independent from standard external review periods typically reserved by the FAA on specific projects that require FAA review and/or concurrence.”

“ALOFT’s expanded ODA capabilities can save our customers significant time by avoiding indefinite timescales caused by project sequencing due to the FAA’s workload at the time of the project’s application,” he said. “Understandably, owner/operators of these large aircraft need these assets flying and not sitting in the hangar awaiting approvals. Our expanded ODA capabilities will significantly reduce the approval timeline.”

ALOFT’s Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, John Eichten, explained that a major contributor to the company’s ongoing expansion of its ODA capabilities and authorizations is the result of its transparent and positive relationship with the FAA.

“Our engineering, certification and ODA teams place a great deal of importance on creating an atmosphere of open communication, trust and detailed planning with our counterparts at the FAA,” Eichten said. “As a result, we are often successful in writing our procedures in a way that provides the most efficient way to manage a thorough and compliant path through the STC process.”

The growing list of ALOFT AeroArchitects’ No-PNL projects include auxiliary fuel systems, wireless networking, Transmitting Personal Electronic Device (TPED), Iridium and Inmarsat systems, in-seat power and cabin power, cabin lighting, in-flight entertainment, aircraft security, cabin seating, various antenna installations and fuselage penetrations.

“We currently have about 40 open STC projects, and so far in 2016, we have issued over 22 STCs and STC amendments along with a high volume of minor changes to customer aircraft,” Eichten said. “Our business has grown year over year since we received our ODA designation and we plan to continue our growth organically and through strategic partnerships.”

“ALOFT’s interactive, teaming approach and ability to offer an a la carte menu of ODA services is of ever-increasing value as the pace of change and expectations of the traveling public continues to expand,” Martin said. “The combination of high-volume aircraft deliveries by OEMs and the technological advancements of onboard systems are providing a growing number of opportunities for ALOFT AeroArchitects to help design, produce, install and certify the future of aviation.”
