Embraer received this month the von Karman Award for International Cooperation in Aeronautics from the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS). The ceremony held during the 34th Congress of the ICAS in Florence, Italy 9-13 September.

The prestigious award established in 1980 has the purpose of acknowledging exceptional technical achievement, scientific or technological advance or benefit to society via international cooperation in the field of aeronautics.

This year’s award highlighted Embraer’s technological development in the area of “Aeroelastic Tailoring” in a remarkable collaboration effort with renowned research centers from multiple countries. The project addressed main challenges over composite structures and the validation of methods for most efficiency, lighter and low emission aircraft design of the future. Embraer’s engineering team was represented by the project leader Pedro Higino de Passos Cabral.

“It is an honor to attend this event and witness our team and partners being awarded for the Aeroelastic Tailoring Cooperation program. This initiative has united our talented team with the global scientific community to create innovative theories, computational methods, and experimental procedures focused on advancing sustainable aviation”, said Cleiton Silva, Vice President of Technology and Advanced Projects at Embraer. “Congratulations to everyone on this remarkable achievement!
