Jet Aviation Redelivers Quietest VIP Narrow-body Completion

Jet Aviation has redelivered its quietest narrow-body completion, with sound levels below 40 dB SIL. The interior was designed by the Jet Aviation Design Studio, and engineered, produced, installed and certified in-house at the completion center in Basel, Switzerland.

Jet Aviation created an in-house acoustic lab to develop new technologies for analyzing and testing different materials for their acoustic properties. The final interior achieved decibel levels of below 40 in the principle’s seat.

“We are very proud to be setting a new standard in acoustic performance for VIP completions,” says Christoph Fondalinski, vice president completions.

Fondalinski continued, “This was the second aircraft for this customer. The previous redelivery was our quietest and lightest at the time, so there were high expectations for this second cabin. Sound levels were a crucial consideration, and our engineers worked closely with design, production and installation to develop new methods and materials to ensure that the cabin was as quiet as possible, while also exceeding the customer’s expectations on weight.”

The design featured special materials certified for use in the cabin by Jet Aviation to further enhance sound dampening, as well as production and installation techniques which reduced the sounds emitted by the interior systems of the aircraft.

“It is always very rewarding when a customer returns to us with the challenge of beating our own records,” says Florent Klinger, head of engineering.

Klinger added, “To achieve below 40 dB SIL in a narrow-body aircraft is an incredible achievement. We could not do this without the close collaboration we have with our in-house teams, all of whom contributed by continuing our acoustics work, finding new ways of fitting interior systems to reduce noise, exploring new sound-dampening materials and utilizing our 47 years of experience in VVIP completions. Together, we could meet the brief and redeliver a cabin that represents a new milestone in what we are able offer to our customers.”

In addition to the VVIP areas, the layout includes four first-class suites with lie-flat seats. The interior palette throughout draws on tones of cream and beige, accented with mother of pearl sinks, 100% silk carpets, gold metal accents and a custom-designed embroidered silk bulkhead in the main cabin.

The cabin features curved ceilings of over 2.1 meters and has four flexible OLED screens fitted flush to the sidewalls.
