1 Dead After Cargo Plane Crashes Near Victoria

Dec. 11, 2019

A pilot died when the cargo delivery plane he was flying crashed Monday night near Victoria, according to the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office and KHOU.

The plane, which was reportedly headed for Houston, crashed near the Victoria Regional Airport, the sheriff’s office announced late Monday in a Facebook post. Officials told KHOU that the plane took off from the airport headed for Houston.

While a body has no been located, officials said the wreckage, which was found in a field about four miles north of Victoria, led them to believe the pilot didn't survive, according to KHOU.

Air traffic controllers lost radio contact with the single-engine Cessna 208 around 8:16 p.m., according to Federal Aviation Administration officials.

The Texas Department of Public Safety, Federal Aviation Agency and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
