A pervy Mississippi pediatrician will have to leave the country after pleading guilty to groping a sleeping woman during a recent flight from New York to Tennessee.
Dr. Rajesh Subramanya reached under a fellow passenger’s shirt and grabbed her breasts at least twice before getting caught, at which point he blatantly asked her if he could continue to touch her, according to court documents obtained by Daily News.
The man, who holds passports from the United Kingdom and India, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault last week and agreed to return to the U.K., court records show. He has since been sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a $3,000 fine.
The incident happened Sept. 29 aboard a Delta flight from LaGuardia Airport to Memphis International Airport.
Authorities said the victim woke up from her sleep as the plane was approaching Memphis and felt as though a hand had just been pulled back from her breast. She looked at the man next to her, later identified as Subramanya, and he appeared to be asleep.
The woman told police she thought she had imagined things and tried to go back to sleep. That’s when the creep reached under her shirt and her bra and groped her, authorities wrote in an affidavit.
The victim then confronted him, but the physician went on to ask if he could continue groping her and even tried to strike up a conversation, according to the affidavit. The woman took down his phone number so she could identify him later and then filed a police report upon landing.
Subramanya, who was a pediatrician at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi, told investigators in an interview that he thought the woman had welcomed his touch because she was leaning toward his seat, the affidavit states. Authorities said he later confessed he was aware that the woman’s movement did not mean consent.
