Alaska Airlines Plans New Flights from Fresno. Here's Where They'll be Going Next Spring
Alaska Airlines will be making some changes to its schedule of flights to and from Fresno next spring, including adding a fourth daily flight to San Diego.
Alaska Air currently has three daily nonstop flights between Fresno and San Diego. That will increase to four starting on May 21, with a midday flight operated by its regional partner Horizon Air that will leave Fresno Yosemite International Airport at 12:30 p.m. and arrive at San Diego International Airport at 1:44 p.m., according to the airline’s online booking system.
Also on May 21, Alaska Airlines will change one of its three daily flights to Seattle from a 76-seat Embraer 175 jet operated by SkyWest Airlines to one of its own mainline Airbus A320 jets. The Airbus can seat up to 149 people, according to Alaska’s online seat-selection map.
“The changes we are seeing in Alaska’s schedule for late spring/summer are consistent with their and other airlines’ strategy to meet the region’s air service demands – to increase seats through frequency, larger aircraft or a combination of both,” said Vikkie Calderon, a spokeswoman with the city of Fresno’s airports department.
Alaska Airlines did not respond to a request for comment.
In addition to its San Diego and Seattle routes to and from Fresno, Alaska Airlines also partners with Horizon Air for two daily flights to Portland, Oregon. The additional San Diego flight will bring to nine the number of daily nonstop flights from Fresno offered by the airline.
