United Club Reopens Thursday at Cleveland Hopkins, as Air Traffic Continues to Rebound
Jul. 7—CLEVELAND, Ohio — The United Club at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport will reopen on Thursday, yet another sign that air travel is on the increase.
The club, which offers food, drink and a place for weary travelers to unwind, is available to United Airlines frequent flyers and others who pay for the privilege or receive it as perk.
Located in concourse C, the facility shut down last year, as the coronavirus pandemic brought air travel to a near standstill in Cleveland and elsewhere.
And coming later this year to Cleveland Hopkins: The Club CLE, a new lounge space that is unaffiliated with any single airline. Amenities at the Club include drinks, snacks, wifi, workstations and more. Admission is on a per-day basis, typically $40 to $45.
The Club is part of Texas-based Airport Dimensions, with 28 lounges in 19 airports, including Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Baltimore and Atlanta. The Cleveland club is expected to open in September at the entrance to concourse B.
In recent weeks, the Transportation Security Administration has screened more than 2 million passengers on numerous days, as air traffic continues to rebound throughout the U.S. On Sunday, July 5, 2.2 million passengers flew in the United States — or about 80% of the traffic from two years ago on the same day.
In May, Cleveland Hopkins welcomed 623,305 travelers, about 70% of the total who flew in May 2019, according to airport figures.
