Frontier Adding Atlanta, Philly Flights to PVD

July 12, 2021

Frontier Airlines Monday began flying new routes from Providence to Atlanta and Philadelphia.

The budget carrier will fly both new routes three times per week, with Atlanta flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and Philadelphia flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The new routes give Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport six destinations served by Frontier. The others are Orlando, Tampa and Miami in Florida, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

“Frontier now offers six nonstop Providence routes this summer as we have expanded our PVD route network to meet the pent-up desire for summer travel while maintaining affordable fares and a friendly flying experience.” Frontier director of corporate communications Jennifer de la Cruz said in a news release.

Travelers could already fly to and from Providence from Atlanta and Philadelphia on other airlines, so the new flights will mean more competition.

Delta and Southwest fly between Providence and Atlanta. American flies between Providence and Philadelphia.

Frontier said it's starting Providence to Philadelphia one-way fares at $29 and Atlanta at $44.

The Rhode Island Airport Corporation is not paying Frontier any incentives for the new routes, spokesman John Goodman said Monday, including marketing money or waived landing fees.
