Southwest Is Bringing Back Nonstop Flights From MCI to Three Major Cities This Summer

Dec. 19, 2022

Southwest is bringing back its nonstop flights from MCI to three additional cities this summer after the airport’s new single terminal opens. The airline has been increasing its services from Kansas City, and now it is slated to have seasonal, nonstop service to Milwaukee, Minneapolis and San Antonio starting in July.

Seasonal service is offered during popular travel times during the year, including summer months and spring break. Travelers can start booking flights to those three cities in time for their summer vacation now.

“As we continue to add depth to existing markets in our Network, we’re happy to return this seasonal service,” Southwest spokesperson Chris Perry said in an emailed statement.

The flight schedule is only available through August 14, 2023, so Perry said he can’t comment on what the schedule will look like for these routes come fall.

Southwest also recently restored nonstop routes to Albuquerque and Indianapolis, after suspending both routes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to MCI. MCI also announced in October that the airline would add additional flights headed to Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Diego, St. Louis, Las Vegas, Orlando and Pensacola.

Many of these flights will be taking off during the summer of 2023, shortly after the grand opening of the airport’s new and highly anticipated terminal in March.

“We’re continuing to add flights back into our schedule, providing options for Customers to seek their passions and Go With Heart in planning summer travel,” Southwest Executive Vice President Ryan Green said in a statement about the added routes.
