Athens — All flights to and from Greece will be cancelled on Thursday due to a nationwide 24-hour strike by various Greek unions.
Air traffic controllers are among those going on strike, their union announced on Tuesday.
The strike will begin at 00:01 ( 2201 GMT) on Thursday and will last 24 hours, according to the statement. Passengers have been informed, Greek airlines said.
The country's major unions have called for the strike. They demand a full investigation of the serious train accident two weeks ago in central Greece.
The head-on collision between a passenger train and a freight train killed 57 people, most of them young people under 30. Since then, there have been repeated strikes and demonstrations in Greece.
A stationmaster in the town of Larissa had been proven to have sent the passenger train onto the wrong tracks, but the investigation shows that, in addition to human error, the poor conditions of Greek railroads and political failures likely contributed.
