Southwest is continuing to add nonstop flights from Kansas City International Airport to hotspots all over the country, this time to Raleigh, North Carolina.
The new flight to the Raleigh-Durham International Airport will start in June through September. The service won’t be daily, but it will be filling a major gap in nonstop service between the two cities.
Frontier used to offer a nonstop service to Raleigh, but that service was cut in 2019. Southwest canceled its nonstop service to Raleigh in 2020, Kansas City Business Journal reported.
The added service is one of the latest routes added to Kansas City’s airport since the opening of the new $1.5 billion single terminal.
In March, Southwest Airlines announced its new nonstop routes from Kansas City to Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and to Los Cabos International Airport in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.
“We are proud to have worked with Southwest Airlines to expand domestic and international service out of Kansas City and expect more exciting new flight announcements ahead,” Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said in a statement.
