Thomas Cook Airlines U.K. announced a new direct flight from SEA-TAC Airport in Seattle to Manchester beginning on May 27. The new route will be operated with an Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The seasonal service will operate two-days a week until Sept. 20. The flight leaves Seattle at 4:25 p.m., arriving one day later in Manchester at 9:30 a.m. The return flight departs Manchester at 12:55 p.m. and arrives in Seattle at 2:25 p.m. Introductory fares from Seattle to Manchester in economy class start as low as $569.99.
Passengers traveling on the new route receive free checked baggage as well as complimentary meals prepared by U.K. celebrity chef, James Martin and inflight entertainment.
In addition to Seattle, Thomas Cook Airlines U.K. also flies to Manchester, London and Glasgow from New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orlando, Boston and Las Vegas.
The new, seasonal Seattle-Manchester route is in addition to Thomas Cook Group Airline’s year-round, non-stop flight from Seattle to Frankfurt operated by sister carrier Condor Airlines. Condor’s German fleet also serves Frankfurt from Anchorage, Austin, Baltimore, Fairbanks, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Portland with onward connections to 120 destinations throughout Europe via Condor and a network of partner airlines. Condor Airlines is a partner with Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan frequent flyer program, providing members more opportunities to earn and use miles on flights to Europe. As Alaska Airlines has continually added service to and from Seattle, the carrier makes for easy connections to Condor’s direct flights to Frankfurt. Travelers can connect from virtually anywhere with just one booking, and can book the total route and connections with one ticket from Condor.
“Seattle is an extremely important market for Thomas Cook Group Airline. The city and SEA-TAC has been extremely supportive of our Condor service. We originally started with seasonal service on that route, but it was so successful that we expanded it to year-round service,“ said Christoph Debus, chief airlines officer for Thomas Cook Group Airline. “We are pleased to continue to expand our operation in Seattle with a seasonal route to Manchester on Thomas Cook Airlines U.K., providing Seattle and the northwest U.S. with even more options for affordable and convenient flights to Manchester, Northern England and Continental Europe.”
“We are thrilled to welcome this new service from Thomas Cook Service. This success demonstrates our growing significance as an international destination and creates new opportunities for our region’s travelers and businesses,” said Port of Seattle Commission President Courtney Gregoire. “Not to mention, the sports fans will now connect their love of the Seattle Sounders FC with one of the legendary UK football cities!”
