For 10 years Spirit Airlines has proudly served the country of Colombia, now it is adding the beautiful city of Cali as its fifth Colombian service station! Beginning Dec. 20, Spirit will connect Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport (CLO) to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) with daily nonstop service. The connection will also provide a gateway to dozens of other Spirit destinations in the United States.
The city of Cali and the Valle de Cauca Department region serves as home to more than 3 million people, and will mark Spirit’s 68th service station in its growing network. Cali joins the other vibrant Colombian cities of Cartagena, Bogotá, Medellín, and Armenia currently served by the airline. Cali will be Spirit’s 17th destination in Latin America and 28th destination outside the continental United States.
“Spirit is excited to grow once again in the beautiful country of Colombia,” said Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines’ vice president of network planning. “After starting service there more than a decade ago, we continue to see amazing demand by our Guests wishing to visit family and friends or enjoy a vacation full of culture and cuisine. Cali will be yet another option to keep loved ones connected and provide added convenience to our Guests.”
“Aerocali is pleased with the arrival of Spirit Airlines at Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport. The announcement of the Cali - Fort Lauderdale route is the sum of Spirit and Aerocali’s efforts to develop new air routes,” said Ricardo Alberto Lenis Steffens, Aerocali’s general manager. “The start of operations of this airline will expand the network of connections within the United States, beyond their hub in Fort Lauderdale. We are pleased to have an airline committed to providing excellent service to its users at very affordable rates, and hope that the commercial and tourist exchanges generated by this new route will contribute to our region's economic growth."
