L3Harris Technologies Partners with SkyWest Airlines to Award Scholarships to Women Aviators
L3Harris Technologies has partnered with SkyWest Airlines to award scholarships totaling more than $100,000 to six women aviators to help foster diversity on the flight deck.
The L3Harris Pilot Pathways Women Aviators scholarships help cover the training costs for female candidates applying for the Professional Pilot Program at the compay’s Airline Academy in Sanford.
Five cadets will each receive a $12,500 scholarship from L3Harris toward their training costs. L3Harris partnered with SkyWest Airlines to enhance the scholarship program to offer one cadet $50,000 and be included in the SkyWest Airlines Pilot Pathway Program, which offers a clear path for pilots to launch their career as a commercial pilot with the airline.
“Engaging with organizations for women in aviation has inspired and supported me, and I hope to reciprocate that inspiration as a role model for young women and encourage them to follow their dreams of flying,” said scholarship recipient Christina Montgomery of Dillion, California.
“SkyWest is proud to support these driven aviators and contribute to their ambitions to become commercial pilots,” said Tracy Gallo, SkyWest vice president of flight operations. “Supporting more women in our flight decks makes the entire industry stronger.”
“The 3Harris Pilot Pathways Women Aviator scholarships support candidates to become part of a generation of women pilots that will help showcase and build a more inclusive future across the industry,” said Robert Luthy, director, L3Harris Florida Airline Academy. “The scholarships are part of L3Harris’ commitment to raise awareness of this exciting career and reduce the financial challenges of flight training.”
