Copa Airlines Recognized as the Best Latin American Airline in the Last Decade
Copa Airlines, subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A., and member of the global Star Alliance network, received the award as Best Latin American Airline in the Last Decade thanks to its strategy focused on creating and strengthening the Hub of the Americas in Panama to connect all points in Latin America with the rest of the Americas. The Decade of Airline Excellence Awards, organized by FlightGlobal, recognized airlines that showed the best performance in the last ten years in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East.
"During the worst crisis in the history of aviation and of our airline, we are very proud to receive this important recognition which is the result of the work, dedication, and commitment of the entire Copa Airlines team. At Copa, we are focused on offering world-class service to our passengers and positioning our Hub of the Americas as the best point of connectivity throughout the Americas. Therefore, we will continue to contribute to the region's growth which needs a solid aviation industry today more than ever in order to face the situation that we are currently experiencing," said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.
Copa Airlines was awarded thanks to the focus on its fleet strategy and the creation of the Hub of the Americas, located at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, which connects destinations throughout Latin America, including secondary markets, with the rest of the continent and the Caribbean.
The Decade of Airline Excellence Awards were launched this year by FlightGlobal, Airline Business, and the civil aviation practice of Korn Ferry, the world's largest provider of human capital solutions. This recognition replaced the Airline Strategy Awards, which will return in 2021. An independent panel of industry experts selected the winners and, in addition to the Latin America winner, the Decade of Airline Excellence Awards, recognized airlines in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, and Middle East categories.
