American Airlines Adds New Route Between Birmingham and Orlando
As more travelers in the Birmingham area are returning to the skies for the summer travel season, American Airlines is launching new nonstop Saturday service between Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) and Orlando International Airport (MCO).
Service between BHM and MCO begins June 5 and will operate on Saturdays through Aug. 14. Flights will operate on an Embraer E175, equipped with 76 seats in a two-cabin configuration. Tickets will go on sale at aa.com on Saturday.
“American Airlines has been a longtime partner of BHM and continues to show its commitment to Birmingham,” said Ronald F. Mathieu, president and CEO of the Birmingham Airport Authority. “We are pleased that our customers will have more options, more connectivity, and more convenience this summer for their travel needs when flying BHM.”
This summer, American plans to operate 20 peak day departures from BHM. American currently offers nonstop flights from Birmingham to Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., allowing travelers to connect throughout the network to multiple destinations.
“With more people taking to the skies this summer, American Airlines is building a flight schedule that helps customers reconnect with friends and loved ones — offering more choice and flexibility than ever before,” said Brian Znotins, vice president of network planning for American Airlines. “Service from Birmingham to Orlando complements existing connectivity to key markets across our network and provides a convenient new option for customers wanting to get away.”
