After introducing six domestic and international routes this year, Avianca continues to expand with plans to launch 23 new international routes before 2022.
Countries with the greatest growth as a result of the new direct flights include Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Guatemala and El Salvador.
From Colombia, travelers will have 13 new direct routes from Cali to New York, Cancun, Mexico City, San José, and Quito; from Medellin to Aruba, Mexico City, Orlando, San Jose, Quito, and Guayaquil; from Bucaramanga to Miami, and from Bogota to Toronto, Canada.
Customers in Ecuador can take direct flights from Quito to New York, Miami, Cali, and Medellin; as well as from Guayaquil to New York, Miami and Medellin.
From Costa Rica, Avianca will have direct flights from San Jose to Managua, Los Angeles, New York, Mexico City, Cali and Medellin.
With direct flights from Guatemala City to Washington, D.C., U.S. capital will be four hours away.
By the end of the year, Avianca will have resumed 91 percent of its direct routes in El Salvador. In addition to the El Salvador-Ontario route announced in July, Avianca will have a direct flight to Orlando.
Manuel Ambriz, chief commercial officer for Avianca, said, “Launching these 23 new routes shows that we wish to continue growing in a sustainable way, and that we have the firm purpose of continuing to be the airline with the most robust route network in our region. We know our customers want more destinations and more frequencies. We are adapting our offer to provide our customers what they really value: competitive prices, tailor-made products, the best network and trustworthiness in the service.”
After presenting a reorganization plan, as well as ensuring commitments to finance its exit from Chapter 11, the company, in a news release said it is moving forward with reconfiguring its aircraft. The company plans to offer a greater number of seats per plane, all new, and strengthen its “Tailor-Made Travel” program for passengers to pay only for what they really need.
Avianca has 99 routes in its network, more than 2,680 weekly flights, and almost 400,000 seats available per week.
The new routes announced previously this year are Medellín-Cancun, Medellín-Punta Cana, Miami-San Jose, San Salvador-Ontario, Cali-Orlando and Pereira-Santa Marta.
