Sun Country Launches Its First Indy to Orlando Nonstop Flight
Sun Country Airlines, one of two new airlines to join the roster at the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) this year, launched its nonstop flight out of Indy to Orlando (MCO) on Sept. 2.
“Today Sun Country expands its service for Hoosier travelers with nonstop flights to both Minneapolis and Orlando,” said IAA Executive Director Mario Rodriguez. “Their addition of Indy’s number-one vacation destination, Orlando, ties in perfectly for those ready for fall break travel.”
The airline launched its first scheduled commercial-service out of Indy to Minneapolis in May 2021, and currently operates "ultra-low-cost flights" on 100 routes to more than 65 popular destinations between the United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
Rodriguez said the IAA worked for years to bring Sun Country to Indy and was able to seal the deal during the Routes Americas conference held in Indianapolis in February 2020.
Sun Country’s nonstop to Orlando is among 21 new nonstop flights announced in 2021 across Indy airlines, to date.
“We continue to see a positive response from folks booking flights between Indianapolis and the Twin Cities, so we’re really excited about expanding our service to sunny Orlando, Florida today,” said Brian Davis, Sun Country Airlines chief marketing officer. “We hope folks continue to enjoy our brand of convenient, affordable service onboard their next Sun Country flight at IND.”
