Austrian Launches New Route from Boston to Vienna

July 2, 2024

Great news for Bostonians - the long-awaited Austrian Airlines Boston – Vienna flight was launched today and celebrated at Boston’s Logan International Airport.  The new direct route makes it easier than ever for Boston-area passengers to experience the cultural city of Vienna, the beauty of Austria at large, as well as all of Europe and beyond with convenient connections to worldwide destinations due to Lufthansa Group’s global network.

Austrian’s arrival at Logan International Airport marks the first time the carrier is operating from the Boston gateway, joining Lufthansa and SWISS, and bringing the number of weekly flights by the Lufthansa Group carriers serving the New England region to a record 39, offering unparalleled access to Europe’s key hubs of Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich and now Vienna. Ahead of the first flight to Vienna, dignitaries gathered at Logan Airport to officially inaugurate the new service, raising the Austrian Flag and joining the growing list of countries served from Boston.

“Boston is one of the strongest markets for us, and now with Austrian Airlines’ new route, in addition to the already existing Lufthansa Group flights, we are providing enhanced service, as well as new traveling options, for customers on both sides of the Atlantic and throughout the Lufthansa Group worldwide network,” said Dirk Janzen, Vice President Passenger Airlines Sales, The Americas, Lufthansa Group. He added, “Beyond being one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, Vienna is also an important hub with seamless connectivity to 125 destinations across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.”

Flight OS91 takes off from Vienna International (VIE) at 10:40 am, landing at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) at 1:50 pm.
