Park Assist's Smart-Sensor System is Bringing a New Level of Guidance to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport's Parking Garage
Park Assist has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). As the primary commercial airport serving the Seattle metropolitan area in Washington, SEA Airport is the 8th busiest airport in the United States and the 3rd busiest on the West Coast. Spanning the entirety of its terminal, SEA operates one of the largest single-structure garages in the world, consisting of over 12,100 parking stalls. Park Assist’s M4 Smart-Sensor System will be installed in this garage to ensure that each traveler is treated to the highest level of guidance both upon entering and returning to the facility.
Port of Seattle chose to implement Park Assist’s proprietary camera-based M4 PGS to monitor occupancy and provide guidance throughout the SEA Airport garage. Designed to help parkers quickly and seamlessly locate available parking spaces within the facility, Park Assist’s M4 smart-sensor system enhances the parking experience by indicating which specific spaces are available, occupied, or premium using color-coded LED lights. This not only significantly reduces the search and park times for travelers, but it also removes traffic congestion, confusion, and frustration from the parking journey.
Park Assist’s customer-centric Park Finder software module ensures that guests can quickly pinpoint their car upon returning to the garage. Utilizing either the Park Assist mobile app or a Park Finder enabled pay station, travelers enter their license plate number into the system and are guided to their vehicle’s exact location. The Find Your Car locator searches a vehicle database and identifies the correct license plate number and corresponding vehicle, providing step-by-step directions on how to get to the car.
Additionally, Park Assist’s Select-Rate add-on allows parking management to easily designate spaces for premium pricing. Once a vehicle enters a premium space, the smart-sensor feeds the vehicle ID and location data to the Parking Access and Revenue Control Systems (PARCS), applying the premium rate to the associated vehicle. This provides a VIP experience for the end-user and presents an opportunity for the airport to create value for frequent flyers and unlock open revenue streams.
Park Assist’s Park Alerts and Park Surveillance add-ons will be used to increase control and security in the garage. The Park Alerts software extension allows parking management to set automated rules and alerts that help staff manage awareness and control activity in the facility, while Park Assist’s Park Surveillance module enables the M4 sensors to capture streaming video of any movement in or around parking spaces, serving as a proven deterrent of criminal activities.
“Partnering with the Port of Seattle, Park Assist took a consultative approach solving for SEA Airport’s specific parking needs. Listening to Port of Seattle’s concerns, Park Assist is proud to provide SEA Airport with a Parking Guidance System built to suit its unique requirements. The M4 PGS not only provides exceptional guidance, but it also provides travelers with an exceptional experience from entry to exit, offering each guest an upgraded parking journey.” Said Will Cai, regional account manager.
