Birmingham‐Shuttlesworth International Airport Announces Activation of Distributed Antenna Cellular Service in the Terminal
The Birmingham‐Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) has activated a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) cellular signal boosting system in its passenger terminal. The system was activated on March 7 and provides an increased signal strength and faster data speeds for customers of AT&T.
“The DAS system is a significant customer service improvement at the airport and we are grateful to AT&T for working with the BAA in partnership to improve our customers experience” said Ronald F. Mathieu, Birmingham Airport Authority president and CEO. “We look forward to making more customer service improvement announcements in the next few months.”
The DAS system was installed at the airport by AT&T as an investment to support demand for wireless services within the airport environment. A DAS system consists of a network of antennas placed within the building to provide consistent coverage throughout the terminal. This installation is part of the Birmingham Airport Authority’s commitment to increasing the level and functionality of cellular and wireless signal speed for passengers while at BHM.
