NASAO Honors Nel Stubbs of Conklin & de Decker With President's Award
September 2017 – Orleans, Massachusetts – Conklin & de Decker Vice President and Co-Owner, Nel Stubbs, received the NASAO President’s Award last week at the 86th Annual NASAO Convention and Tradeshow in Alabama.
The President's Award is one of NASAO's highest honors as it's awarded to distinguished individuals, state directors, staff, NASAO Business Partners, who have made long-standing contributions to NASAO and to state aviation.
Since 1988, Ms. Stubbs has been actively engaged with NASAO - and a fixture at the annual conventions and other association events, as a valued business partner, friend and a member of the NASAO family. “Throughout the years, Nel has maintained an unwavering commitment to, and passion for, NASAO and state aviation - with her unmatched expertise and invaluable counsel on state aviation taxes and revenue,” said Mark Kimberling, NASAO President and CEO. “Nel continues to be a trusted advisor to the states, an ardent supporter and vital member of NASAO - and a true friend.”
Nel commented, “I am so honored to receive this award from NASAO, the state aviation directors and staff have been such a valuable resource for me over the years and I value the many friendships we have fostered along the way.”
Before joining Conklin & de Decker in 1999, Nel was with the National Business Aviation Association and developed the tax program during her tenure at NBAA. Today, she consults with numerous companies and individuals on aviation tax-related matters at both the federal and state levels and has extensive experience in the areas of tax planning, cost and financial analysis, budgeting, aircraft ownership, operating structures and tax audits. As an aviation tax expert, Nel successfully spearheaded the development of Conklin & de Decker’s State Tax Guide for General Aviation in 2000, and continues to lead the company’s seminar programs and marketing efforts. Nel is a United States Air Force veteran and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from California State University San Bernardino, and she also holds a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
