ARINC to Implement eBorders Advanced Passenger Information System for the Maldives
ARINC Incorporated today announced that it has been awarded a five-year contract to implement its eBorders Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS) for the Department of Immigration and Emigration of the Maldives, at the country’s international airports.
eBorders will allow government and airport authorities in The Maldives to review passenger information even before aircrafts land at their airports of destination, optimizing efficiency and passenger flow, as well as enhancing overall border security and control.
“Maldives remains a popular destination for travelers, attracting an increasing number of visitors from all over the world,” said Mr. Hamid Fathuhulla, Deputy Controller of the Department of Immigration & Emigration. “We have chosen ARINC as our technology partner because of their industry leadership as well as proven expertise and experience working with the world’s airports and airlines. We are confident ARINC will meet our technology needs every step of the way as we continue to grow.”
“It is crucial for airports and other points of entry to meet their border security and control requirements while providing the highest levels of customer service. At the same time, they need to manage increased operational costs as a result of compliance to new security requirements and mandates,” said Michael DiGeorge, Managing Director of ARINC in Asia Pacific. “We are committed to helping The Maldives meet its current and future border security and control objectives.”
ARINC’s APIS processes information electronically, and translates data into the formats required by border control authorities. Using industry-standard API messaging, it allows seamless communication and sharing of passenger information among border control authorities in the country of destination.
APIS is a part of ARINC’s Electronic Borders portfolio of security solutions designed to manage the entry and exit of travelers entering or leaving a country. It helps improve the security of national borders by providing advance data about passengers and crew.
Comprising network transport technology, messaging service, and message format translations, APIS is a cost-effective and easy-to-use solution that meets the stringent needs of airlines and airports globally. ARINC can tailor and scale each solution to meet unique customer requirements while meeting industry standards mandated by international trade organizations and governments.
